Kira-Kira chapters 14-16 final response

Lynn's death has affected the Takeshima family drastically. The mother is going through an emotional breakdown. The father is erupting in a fit of rage. Sammy's young mind may have been warped by the event, and it may change the way his life will turn out. But not all of the outcomes were bad. Although it may have caused a lot of grief for her, Katie will probably benifit from the death of her sister. Lynn was a straight A student, and she dreamed of going to college and becoming a rocket scientist. When Katie starts doing better in school, she realizes that she will have to carry out Lynn's legacy and finish college, just like she promised Lynn she would.

KK chap 12-13 response #1

During chapters 12-13, Lynn was so ill that Katie had to get whatever Lynn desired. After being commanded and bossed around for several weeks while at the same time recieving no respect or gratitude from her sister, Katie finally snapped. When Lynn asked for a glass of milk, Katie retrieved it like a good servant. But when she gave Lynn the milk, Lynn purposly dropped the milk on the rug and demanded that Katie fetch a glass of water. Again, Lynn dropped the water on the rug on purpose. After recieving so much abuse, Katie snapped and screamed at Lynn, saying that she's ruining the family and the house. This small incident may have ruined their friendship and sisterly bond forever.

Coming of Age Response

One interesting fact about the Navajo, a native american tribe that lives around Utah and New Mexico, is that instead of using doctors, they perform healing ceremonies to cure sicknesses. During these ceremonies, they sing and dance around the ill person, sprinkling herbs and plants around them. The main singer, or witch doctor lead the singers and prays to the Gods to heal the sick one.

adolescence then and now

Adolescence wasn't really that as different back then as it is now. I learned that teens wet through all of the same conflicts and pressures that we are going through now. We may not see this though because we see adults as only adults. We never imagine them as teenagers or kids. However , back then, teens were probably given more freedom. Nowadays, the world is a dangerous place for adolescents. They could get kidnapped or get in a fight or worse. Despite this, adolescence is very similar to several decades ago.

FRIM response

Camping overnight with people you see in school daily can be a completely new experience. You will get closer to those people than you ever had before. You get to know how they behave and act while not in a school environment. This goes for students as well as teachers.

This can be a fun experience, but also an uncomfortable one too. When camping with others, one might not what people seeing them while grooming or changing clothes. I'm fine with people seeing me change, but some people are so conscious of other people that they have to go inside of their tent to change clothes (unless they're girls, then they can't really change in public). You also get to see the true side of people while camping. In school, somebody might not really be that fun to be around, but while camping, they are very fun and social people. Some people might just act the same way that they always act in school or at home. Camping is a great way to get to know somebody outside of school or the workplace, and its also a fun experience.

Quote

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world"
-Mahatma Ghandi
This quote means that if you want change in the world, you have to make it. You can't jut sit back and let somebody else do all of the work.
I choose this quote because it inspires people not to let all of the politicians run their country. It also shows that anybody can change the world, no mater what age, race, occupation or social status.
